“God’s sustaining presence has been obvious during this period of search for a new pastor,” said Senior Associate Pastor of Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, Dr. George Thomasson, who announced recently that Dr. Stephen Rummage will be taking on the role this month.

It has been more than a year since the church lost Senior Pastor Dr. Forrest Pollock and his 13-year-old son Preston, in a plane crash.

A native of Greensboro, NC., Rummage learned, via a live Webcast, from the church that 99.8 percent of the congregation voted him as the new senior pastor of their church. He enthusiastically accepted his new position and will preach his first sermon on Sunday, June 28.

After completing his undergraduate studies in 1990, Rummage stated he was called to preach the gospel.

He earned a master of Divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1993 as well as a doctor of Philosophy degree in preaching from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1998.

Rummage has also served pastorates in North Carolina, Louisiana and Virginia. He presently serves as Pastor of Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C. Before going to Hickory Grove, Rummage served as associate professor of Preaching at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Rummage will be joined at Bell Shoals by his wife, Michele and their son, Joshua.

Bell Shoals Baptist Church is located at 2012 Bell Shoals Rd.
