St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church in Brandon will host one of the nation’s best-known clergymen and inspirational speakers at services on Sunday, Sept. 13.
Dr. John Ed Mathison, author of the best-selling book, Treasures of the Transformed Life: Satisfying Your Soul’s Thirst for More, will speak at services at 8:30, 9:50 and 11:10 AM, as well as at a special gathering at 7:30 PM in the church’s sanctuary at 3315 Bryan Road in Brandon. The public is invited to attend.
Dr. Mathison, who has authored a total of five books, is visiting St. Andrew’s to kick off a church-wide 40-day spiritual growth study based on Treasures of the Transformed Life. Individuals who choose to participate in the study will learn how to go about making changes for the better in their lives. Study groups are being organized and will begin meeting in early September
John Ed Mathison is renowned for his “down-to-earth” preaching and writing style and has served as platform speaker for the National Conference of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He retired in 2008 after 36 years as senior minister of Frazer Memorial United Methodist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. He subsequently founded John Ed Mathison Leadership Ministries to train pastors and lay persons to be church leaders capable of impacting the world.
In 1994, Dr. Mathison was selected National Clergyman of the Year by The Religious Heritage of America, joining the ranks of such nationally known figures as Billy Graham who have received that honor.
