A little sprucing, attention to detail and a renewed focus on the basics: It’s the kind of lesson “Coach Ray” Belmudez offers his students at Ray’s Total Tennis, which has lessons at The Osprey Club, Hawk Park, FishHawk Trails and Rivercrest. Belmudez moved to Florida from Nebraska in 2000. He is certified by both Professional Tennis Registry (PRT) and United States Tennis Association (USPTA) and has played in several Pro Am Tennis Tournaments in Florida and Hilton Head, South Carolina. He received the District Pro of the Year Florida Division Award in 2006-2007. He served as a Hillsborough County representative the past three years to grow tennis in this area and participated in the Mercedes-Benz Classic, where John McEnroe, Jim Courier, Anna Kournikova and Chris Evert were the pros on the court.“Prior to teaching at FishHawk Ranch, I taught at Saddlebrook Tennis Resort which is known for top players,” Belmudez said. “I’ve had other tennis programs in New Tampa and Heritage Isles, where we had the teams compete against each other,” he continued. “Since the FishHawk Ranch program has grown more, I spent more time here. I’ve had several teams participate in the national team tennis in Orlando and Daytona.”FishHawk Ranch resident, Tina Newberry, of Tina Newberry Designs, designed and developed Ray’s new Website, www.RaysTotalTennis.com. “The new site certainly reflects the caliber of Coach Ray’s programs and his impeccable attention to detail,” said Newberry. “In fact, after my son began tennis lessons with Ray at FishHawk Ranch, it became clear to me that Ray’s online presence needed to reflect what I saw on the court, as he taught my son sheer passion, unparalleled commitment and an impressive teaching style.”The new Website provides information on how to get started playing tennis, how to grow your game and video clips featuring tips from players.  Players can now review information about age- and skill-specific programs, see which program session fits into their schedule and register for programs online. Belmudez’s complete schedule is also available, as well as information for junior and adult players on clinics, tournaments and cardio tennis. Newberry is at work on additional enhancements, including adding photo galleries for each area of the site and a section entitled, “Tennis Tips by Ray.”For more information about Ray’s Total Tennis, visit www.RaysTotalTennis.com.
