All Welcome To Local Prayer Event
By Marie Gilmore, editor@ospreyobserver.com
There is definite strength in numbers, and when members of the greater Brandon Christian community gather, there is strength in prayer. This promises to be the case on the National Day of Prayer, Thursday, May 6, when pastors from more than 25 local churches will unite for a community event to encourage the power of prayer. The event is open to the public at the Valrico State Bank on S.R. 60 in Valrico. Starting at 6:30 p.m. with a pre-service concert by the Bell Shoals Worship Team and Band, followed by a prayer time from 7:05-8 p.m., pastors will pray with the community. Bell Shoals Senior Pastor, Dr. Stephen Rummage, is spearheading the organization of the event. “Would anything suffer if we discussed less and prayed more?” he asked the room full of local pastors who met to plan the event. “I believe that God is already doing something through the churches, and on May 6, National Day of Prayer, a day for us to pray for our nation and for our families, it is our opportunity to have a common gathering on neutral ground and pray.” During the event, attendees are encouraged to bring a chair and listen as eight local pastors are brought up to lead in prayer for our President and leaders, our nation and economy, our military, our communities, our marriages and families, our children and schools, our nation’s impact on the world and our churches and personal revivals. A Website, posters, insert bulletins in local churches and pastors will spread the word to encourage the community to attend. Everyone is welcome and the service will be translated and interpreted for the hearing impaired. FishHawk Fellowship pastor David Whitten is excited to tell his congregation about the event and said, “I think it is a great opportunity for all our churches of different denominations to come together and to give prayer to each family who is hurting and people all around us. The best thing we can give people is to be united and focused in prayer.” For more information, contact Bell Shoals at 689-4229 or visit www.bellshoals.com. Churches and pastors are encouraged to get involved and attend.
