Brandon First United Methodist Church (FUMC) invites residents to explore the relevance of the Christian faith in today’s lives in a fun way with an Alpha course dinner and movie this month.
The introductory dinner and a movie will take place at FUMC, located at 121 N. Knights Ave. (one block north of S.R. 60 between Kings and Parsons) on Wednesday, September 8 from 6-8:30 p.m.
Alpha is a ten-week opportunity to explore the relevance of the Christian faith for our lives today and is a practical introduction to the basics of Christianity with opportunity for debate and discussion. The style of Alpha is informal, friendly and non-pressured and there are more than 6,000 Alpha courses running in the U.S. and more than one million people have now attended in North America alone.
Each week people meet together for a meal, a talk on topics such as “Who is Jesus?”, “Why Did Jesus Die?”, “How Can I be Sure of My Faith?” and “Does God Still Heal Today?” followed by small group interaction. There is a weekend retreat midway through the course, which focuses on the person and work of the Holy Spirit.
