With Halloween fast approaching, people are getting ready for the weekend. Are you looking for something fun to do? There are so many great events going on this weekend. Let this be your guide to locate fun events in the area.
Stagedoor Performing Arts will continue its run of Neil Simon’s Plaza Suite on Friday October 29 at 8 p.m. at the Limona Fellowship Hall at 408 Limona Rd. in Brandon. For tickets and information call 630-2237. This is a great opportunity to see live theatre right in Brandon.
On October 29 and 30 from 6 to 9 p.m., you can take part in MOSI’s 5th Annual HALL-O-BOO Event. This is a family event featuring 14 trick or treat stations, hands-on crafts and fun science demonstrations. Children are allowed to wear their costumes and enjoy a fun Hollywood themed event. MOSI is located at 4801 East Fowler Ave. in Tampa. Tickets are $10 for members in advance; $12 for members at door; $12 General Admission in advance; and $15 General Admission at the door. The Way 2 Dance is hosting its First Halloween Spooktacular Showcase Extravaganza on October 29 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the studio located at 610 Oakfield Dr. in Brandon. This is a Halloween Costume party and you are asked to bring a potluck dish be prepared for a “spook-tacular evening of dancing and entertainment. For more information call 966-4788.
Canine Cabana located at 9708 Carr Rd. in Riverview is hosting a “Howl”oween Party from 2 to 5 p.m. for you and your four-legged friend. They will have a costume contest at 2:30 (must be registered by 2 p.m.). You and your dog will have fun with bobbing for apples and pumpkin retrieving. As the Big Draw comes to a close, you can get in on some creative fun at the SouthShore Regional Library located at 15816 Beth Shields Way in Ruskin. From 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., children age six to nine can create art projects celebrating Halloween. For information call 273-3652.
Later in the evening, you can celebrate the close of the Big Draw with a celebration from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Big Draw Studio located at 503 N. U.S. Hwy 41 in Ruskin. The event is free to the public. Entertainment will be provided by Cloud Seven.
Westfield Brandon Town Center, located at 459 Brandon Town Center, is hosting a Family Spooktacular on October 30 from 12 to 5 p.m. They will have a Spooky Scavenger Hunt, Halloween Arts and Crafts and a Costume Contest. For children three and under, the contest is at 12:30 p.m. For children ages four to seven, the contest is at 2 p.m. For children eight to 10 years old, the contest is at 3:30. On Saturday October 30, visit Scare Fair at Winthrop Town Centre from 4 to 6 p.m. The shops surrounding Five Guys including Bellafia Chocolates, Yellowfin Realty and Sew N’Tell Alterations will be participating. All proceeds will go to Relay for Life. There will be Give-Aways, free treats and goodies for the children. For more information, call 541-6201.
For the art lovers in the area, you can visit the 21st Annual Hyde Park Art Fair on Saturday October 30 and Sunday October 31 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Fair is open to the public. Hyde Park Village is located at 742 S. Village Circle, Tampa.
For a fun and different Trick or Treat, visit the Glazer Children’s Museum on Sunday October 31 for “Mummy, Daddy and Me Halloween Spree” from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event is free for kids. They will have bobbing for apples, spooky stories from around the world, Halloween games, costume parade and treats. The Glazer Children’s Museum is located at 110 W. Gasparilla Plaza in Tampa next to the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. For information call 443-3861.
