The month of March marks the beginning of spring and the return of Chalk Walk at Center Place. The Fifth Annual Chalk Walk will be held on Sunday, March 13, from 2-4 p.m. at Center Place, located at 619 Vonderburg Dr. in Brandon.
This is a free event, but tickets are required. There is space for 150 children, so get your tickets before they are all gone. Tickets can be obtained at Center Place.
“Every year at Chalk Walk we see so many smiling faces. The children just love this event, but I think that the parents enjoy it just as much!” said Dawn Galia, executive director of Center Place. “Introducing children to the fine arts makes a positive difference in their lives and in our community. Children who attend cultural events tend to be more involved in social, religious and civic activities and become volunteers. All of these impact our community in a positive way,” she added.
Each child (age three and up) who participates in Chalk Walk will receive a box of chalk, a sidewalk section, coupons and fun items from local businesses. In addition to creative drawing, there will also be food from local favorites such as Chick-fil-A at Lake Brandon Village and Jet’s Pizza. Mr. Bones will bring his magic show and there will be face painting. The ever-popular Chick-fil-A Cow will make an appearance and clowns will be on-hand to entertain.
Music Showcase, Delightful Sounds, Hillsboro Bank and other local vendors will give out items such as kazoos, coloring books and crayons.
Center Place is a nonprofit organization which receives no state or federal funding. Events such as Chalk Walk are funded through membership, private donations and corporate support from locals such as Paul and Tammy Holmberg of Chick-fil-A at Lake Brandon.
