First Financial Security of Brandon representatives Paula Duncan - Area Marketing Director and Terumi Nakamura - Senior Associate were honored to present Vincent Lecavalier and his Foundation a check for $2,500.

On behalf of First Financial Security (FFS), Terumi Nakamura, senior associate, and Paula Duncan, area marketing director, recently had the honor of presenting Vinny Lecavalier and his foundation a check for $2,500. Both Nakamura and Duncan are avid Tampa Bay Lightning hockey fans and admire Lecavalier’s passion for children and giving back to the community, and wanted to help make an impact.
Nakamura learned about The Vincent Lacavalier Foundation and wanted to become involved in the charitable work that has become part of Lacavalier’s legacy to the Tampa Bay area.
The Vincent Lecavalier Foundation builds hope for children and families who battle pediatric cancer and blood disorders. The foundation funds medical research and programming, along with pediatric patient care. In January of 2010, a 28,000-sq.-ft. center was opened at All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg. The center provides improved care for pediatric patients suffering from cancer and blood disorders, including an advanced HEPA air filtration system. This year, the center expects to perform 50 bone marrow transplants, see 125 new patients and treat 4,000 kids on an outpatient basis.
Nakamura, who has been with First Financial Security for over a year, encouraged his company to get involved with helping him raise money for the foundation and for the upcoming Tampa Bay’s Cut for A Cure, which will take place on Thursday, April 7, in Tampa. This fundraising event, which benefits the Pediatric Cancer Foundation and The Vincent Lecavalier Foundation, is where business leaders, media personalities and professional athletes, including Lecavalier will shave their heads for donations. Even though the actual event is Thursday, April 7, Nakamura will be raising funds through Friday, May 6.
Phil Gerlicher, president and CEO of First Financial Security, said, “First Financial Security, Inc. is excited to partner with The Vincent Lecavalier Foundation and their commitment to youth programs and future legacy projects.”
FFS, located at 710 Oakfield Dr., Ste. 119, in Brandon, is focused on helping today’s families achieve financial security.
