The 3rd Annual Winthrop Art Festival will be held on Friday, April 30 and Saturday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Winthrop Town Center in Riverview. Bryant Martinez, organizer of the event and Winthrop Town Artist expects around 100 artists and fine crafters along with local businesses, food vendors and area non-profits.
Martinez said, “We’re very excited that this will be a tradition that will grow every year as the community grows.” The Winthrop Art Festival is a juried art show which has traditionally given cash prizes to the winning artists such as Trent Manning who won Best of Show in 2009 and John Costin who won Best of Show in 2010.
The Winthrop Art Festival is being moved back to the Town Center parking area north of the Times Building facing Bloomingdale Ave. In addition, the festival is being sponsored this year by TECO, Valrico State Bank, Regents Bank and Railroad Credit Union among others. “All of the tenants of Winthrop Town Center have been supportive of the Festival,” said Martinez.
This year, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a 50/50 which benefits area Rotary Clubs and their charities as well as a raffle with fabulous prizes such as a private mojito party in your home for up to 20 people by Beth The Bartender. You can also win tickets to several upcoming concerts and even a $500 E Bond courtesy of Valrico State Bank.
A Children’s Activity Tent is being sponsored by Brandon Sports and Aquatic and Center Place. Music and entertainment will be provided throughout the weekend by local bands, schools and other venues.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to sample delectables from local favorites such as Acropolis, 5 Guys, Cappy’s Pizza, the Italian Kitchen, the Green Iguana, Moe’s and Morelli’s Italian ice.
Proceeds from the festival will also benefit three foundations- The Brandon Foundation, Hillsborough Community College Foundation and the Winthrop Arts Foundation.
