Fireworks, swimming, cookouts, family gatherings- Independence Day is a popular to congregate and celebrate the birth of our country. This is also the day that many Christians celebrate freedom, both spiritual and physical, for the Fourth of July holiday.
On this Independence Day weekend, many local churches will be celebrating those who have sacrificed for our freedom.
Celebrate America is a free community event being hosted by Bell Shoals Baptist Church on Sunday, July 3. This event includes a drama and musical presentation Song of the Patriot, featuring a 150 voice choir, 40 piece orchestra, multimedia video presentation, as well recognition of Military personnel. Presentations will be at 3:00 and 7:00 PM.
In addition, from 4:30- 6:30 p.m. the Freedom Fun Fest will provide outdoor activities for the entire family. Free food, drinks, live entertainment, face painting, military vehicle displays, classic cars, motorcycles, rescue vehicles and Adopt a Soldier opportunities will be provided. Destiny Church is hosting an event entitled Honoring America Services on Sunday, July 3 at the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. services. Then at 6:00 p.m. Dr. Jerry Newcombe will be a special guest speaker. Dr. Newcombe is the host and senior producer for the Coral Ridge Hour, the television outreach of the late Dr. D. James Kennedy. The author or co-author of 21 books, Dr. Newcombe has an extensive knowledge of the Christian heritage of the United States. He co-authored What If America Were A Christian Nation Again with Dr. Kennedy. His latest book is The Book That Made America: How the Bible Formed Our Nation. Dr. Newcombe’s extensive knowledge of the founding of America and our Christian heritage is the backdrop for a message that will inspire and challenge all who hear it.
