Bell Shoals Baptist Academy Brings Home One Of The Top Four Spots At National Spelling Bee
Evan Rabenold of Bell Shoals Baptist Academy was recognized for his fourth place finish at the National Spelling Bee hosted by the Association of Christian Schools International in Washington, D.C.
The original competition started with 1,400 participating schools. Thereafter, more than 15,000 kids moved on to compete in the district spelling bees and 370 spellers continued to the state competitions.
This year’s win for Evan followed his last year’s second place finish in the National Spelling Bee. As a result of his efforts, Evan was rewarded with various honors, the most rewarding of which involved the phenomenal opportunity to participate in the laying of the wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Memorial. Sandra Carnley, Principal of Bell Shoals Baptist Academy, commented, “We are proud of Evan, and we’re confident that the unwavering support he has received from the school’s teachers, staff, and classmates coupled with the steadfast foundation of a passion for learning and excellence will manifest itself in continued success for the greater glory of God.”

Country Gospel Music At The Farm
On Friday, July 29, put your name in the hat to sing. Bring your guitar, banjo, fiddle, or other acoustic instruments and join the fun singing about God and country at The Farm, 7818 Lithia Pinecrest Rd. in Lithia. Mega Sports Camp To Be Held At Destiny Church
Destiny Church, located at 2322 11th Ave. S.E. in Ruskin, is beginning pre-registration for Mega Sports Camp , Monday-Friday, July 18–22, from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Mega Sports Camp is an annual event for Destiny Church because of the priority on effective and meaningful ministry to children. Through a variety of sports activities, children from ages 3-12 years learn about good sportsmanship, fair play and getting along with others as well as spiritual lessons about God’s love and plan for their lives. Children will get to participate in four sports – Soccer, Basketball, Kickball and Flag Football. Each child receives a t-shirt and backpack, and is treated to a special snack time each night.
Coaches will take the children through basic instruction in the various sports, and then give them an opportunity to play the sport. Each night the children rotate from one sport to another giving them an opportunity to participate in all the sports activities. The emphasis is on being involved and having fun, not necessarily on proficiency. This is an ideal time for children to meet others and get to make friends as well as hearing about God’s love for them. Cost for preregistration is $25 per child. Target Camp Returns With An Extra Week This Summer
Due to its popularity, the 10th Annual Target Camp returns with an extra week this summer. Target Camp is part of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) program, and will take place for the week beginning Monday, August 8 from 9-11 a.m. at The MAC (Ministry and Activity Center at First Baptist Church of Brandon. Stay cool while playing, as the facility is indoors and air conditioned.

Basic tennis instructions, along with a daily devotion will be taught for ages 6-12 years old. The cost will be $40 and will include each participant receiving a t-shirt.
