Foundation Christian Academy and High School is achieving academic excellence. Their mission is to provide a firm foundation of quality educational experiences focused on academic excellence, community service and civic responsibility in a safe, nurturing Christian environment.
The school’s board of trustees and administration have held firm to their vision of providing the Brandon area with a Pre-K through high school Christian education option. That vision will be realized this year as FCHS inaugural graduates receive their diplomas.
“The Foundation Christian Academy focus is educating the whole child within an environment that allows teachers to individually tailor educational tracks to each child’s level,” said Alice Wilkinson. Wilkinson is a consultant serving as director for their Office of Business Development and was instrumental in coordinating the school’s first annual benefit gala, “A Heart for Giving,” which was held this past October. Guest speaker at the event was Cal Thomas; USA Today syndicated columnist and author.
With low student/teacher ratios, students are taught a variety of courses to include language arts, math, science, social studies, Spanish, art, physical education, music, and computer classes. Advanced Placement (AP) and honors courses are available for middle and high school students.
The school also offers a wide array of honors, academic, service and social clubs for students to join.
“Foundation Christian Academy seeks to shine Christ’s light in the community through service projects such as Habitat for Humanity and Bags of Blessings for the homeless,” Wilkinson said.
The school averages 250 students annually and enrollment for the 2012 school year begins in early February.
FCA/HS will be graduating their first seniors at the end of the current semester. Wilkinson said three of those graduates are charter members of FCA. Future plans for FCA include campus expansion to include an additional education building and a gymnasium. The sports fields are being completely renovated and additional fields are under construction with completion by the 2012-2013 school year.
