Jean McIntyre, long time administrator for Bay Area Cardiology Associates, accepted the Greatest Corporate Contribution Award at the Eighth Annual Brush Strokes Awards For Excellence in the Arts held at Center Place in Brandon from last year’s recipient, Tammy Holmberg.
Bay Area Cardiology Associates was honored with the Greatest Corporate Contribution Award at the Eighth Annual Brush Strokes Awards for Excellence in the Arts held in October at Center Place. Bay Area Cardiology Associates was honored for its long standing support of local artists. It displays and sell the artwork of local artists through the Brandon League of Fine Arts.
According to Jean McIntyre, administrator for Bay Area Cardiology Associates, “We have 30-40 paintings on display throughout our 12,000-sq.-ft. building. We feel that displaying the artwork helps the community in many ways: from the support of the artists to aiding in relaxation of our patients to relieving the stress of our employees.” McIntyre further explained that 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales goes to the artist. “This is our way of giving back to the community,” said McIntyre.
Bay Area Cardiology Associates has been displaying local artwork for five years. The artwork is moved around the building so that all patients can see it. “Over the years, we have had patients make requests for certain subjects such as horses. We pass that onto the artists,” said McIntyre. “We always have a variety of paintings that range in subject matter as well as price levels. We basically display art that will appeal to all people,” added McIntyre.
McIntyre said of the award, “We were surprised and proud to have been honored, even though we did not feel that we did anything out of the ordinary. We just want to give back to the community.” The Brush Strokes Awards For Excellence in the Arts is sponsored by the Greater Brandon Arts Council.
