While Mother’s Day is still a few weeks away, it’s never too early to start thinking about what to get your mom on her special day. There are a variety of ways to show her just how special she is and we decided to ask some of our readers what it is that they enjoy receiving on Mother’s Day.
After conducting some quick research and asking our Facebook fans what the best Mother’s Day gift they have ever given/received, it came to light that often times the most meaningful gift items are, in fact, the simplest to put together.
Christian Voice editor and mother of three Kelly Legg said, “I would like for my kids to write me a letter or make me a card and maybe give me a frame that I can put it in.”
Donna Rose agrees that a hand written letter is much more meaningful than a store bought card. “A few years ago I asked my teen and pre-teen kids to write me a letter and they were awesome! It showed me that the little and routine things I did were noticed and appreciated.”
It is important to never underestimate the impact that a homemade and from the heart can have.
Angie Weir also enjoyed a homemade card her young son made at school. “There’s something about a card with little handprints that gets me every time,” she said.
Cynthia Uribes agreed and said the best Mother’s Day gift she received was a poem written by her oldest son.
Homemade gifts do now have to be limited to writing a poem or letter and making cards, it’s also easy to make homemade certificates. “In the past, I’ve received certificates from my children for chores around the house,” said Kerrie Hoening.
