Construction will begin this summer on a 6,600-sq.-ft. addition to Winthrop Town Centre in Riverview. The first tenant will be the Egg & I, a full service breakfast restaurant.
The next great addition to the Winthrop Town Centre in Riverview will be the Egg & I restaurant. This full service breakfast and lunch restaurant will be located along the frontage of Bloomingdale Ave. (east of the Regions Bank).
Construction on the 6,600-sq.-ft. building, which will also eventually house a nighttime restaurant, will begin in late 2012 with completion by the summer of 2013. The Egg & I restaurant will occupy 3,600 sq. feet.
According to John Sullivan, developer of Winthrop Town Centre, “We have wanted a breakfast place at Winthrop for a long time.” Sullivan further explained, “The Egg & I chain was looking to expand in our market, and the fit at Winthrop is perfect.” Sullivan also explained that they are in the process of searching for a full service night time restaurant that also be compatible with the overall development of Winthrop Town Centre.
The Egg & I specializes in eggs benedicts, omelettes, waffles and whole wheat pancakes. Savory skillets and dishes with a southwestern flair are also menu favorites.
For lunch, the Egg & I offers favorites such as soups, salads and sandwiches such as chicken caprese (grilled chicken with fresh mozzarella, spinach, roasted tomatoes and pesto mayonnaise) and a cheeseburger topped with a fried egg.
This type of restaurant fits in well with other establishments at Winthrop Town Centre. “They are compatible with what we already have at Winthrop and will not be in competition with the other restaurants,” said Sullivan.
Currently under construction at Winthrop Town Centre at Commerce St. and Bloomingdale Ave. is an archway reminiscent of the one on 7th Ave. in Ybor City. According to Sullivan, “This archway will fit in with the architecture of Winthrop and will designate a major entry to Winthrop. I have wanted to have an archway like this for some time. It will help connect the existing part of Winthrop Town Centre to the new section being built on the parcel where the Pole Barn and Barn Theatre are located,” added Sullivan.
