The GFWC Brandon Junior Woman’s Club will host its 3rd Annual International Food Festival on Saturday, October 13 from 6 to 8 p.m. at their historic clubhouse located at 129 N. Moon Ave. in Brandon. All are invited to come and sample foods from England, India, the Caribbean, Spain and the Hawaiian Islands.
The 3rd Annual International Food Festival is a fundraiser organized by the members of the International Affairs Department of the GFWC Brandon Junior Woman’s Club. The International Affairs Department raises money to support organizations that support our global community.
This year’s recipients will be Save the Children (a global non-profit that creates positive changes in the lives of children in more than 45 countries and 18 states); Heifer International (an organization that distributes livestock, bees and other income producing farm products to families around the world; and World Food Day (a global effort to increase awareness and understanding of issues relating to hunger and food).
Leslie Garcia, co-chair of the event said, “The International Food Festival is fun and exciting way to reach out and spread awareness.” Garcia added, “The food is quite diverse and yummy. You will get samples of food and beverage from each station. This year’s menu is shaping up be as good and diverse as year’s past.” The foods for the event are provided by area restaurants as well as by some members of the club.
In addition to great food, drink and fellowship, there will be a raffle of great prizes. Raffle tickets will be sold at the event. The members of the GFWC Brandon Junior Woman’s Club are committed to ending world hunger. As such, they are asking that attendees bring non-perishable food items to the event. You will receive a raffle ticket for a special basket if you provide non-perishable food items. The food will be donated to Trinity Food Bank.
Get your tickets for $15 per person or $25 per couple. Please note that space is limited for this event. To buy tickets email Leslie Garcia at lhgarcia1@verizon.net or visit www.thebjwc.com.
