Brandon Regional Hospital Emergency Center at Plant City now offers patients in the FishHawk, Valrico, Plant City and surrounding areas of mid eastern Hillsborough County, the experience of a facility that treats 100,000 patients annually close to home. The new Emergency Center officially opened on Thursday, October 5. The brand new 11,000 square foot facility is located at 3065 James L. Redman Parkway (in the Aldi Supermarket Plaza) in Plant City.
The goal of this facility is to eliminate wait times in the Emergency Room. Registration of patients takes place bedside as the priority is to get the patient from the waiting room into one of the 12 state of the art rooms as quickly as possible.
The Emergency Center has 12 private rooms which are double the size of other ER rooms. Each room is fully equipped with the latest monitoring devices. Jeff Bogue, a paramedic with Brandon Regional Hospital said, “Because we are a remote facility, we wanted the best here.” One room is set to receive psychiatric patients, two rooms contain slightly smaller equipment which are just right for pediatric patients and one room is fully equipped as a resuscitation room.
The Emergency Center has a fully equipped lab that can return results within 30 minutes. Because this center is located in an agricultural area, there is a fully equipped decontamination room.
In addition, the Emergency Center has state of the art radiology equipment including a portable fluoroscopy that can be brought bedside and pictures of a broken bone can be taken. The facility also has a portable x-ray, a 16 slice, low dose CAT scan. Any image taken at the Emergency Center can be viewed and analyzed within minutes by technicians and physicians either at the Emergency Center or at the main hospital in Brandon.
