At the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce’s (GRCC) monthly membership luncheon in October at The Regent, located on 6437 Watson Rd. in Riverview, the 2013 Honorary Mayor of Riverview was announced. Candidates Molly Blanton, Boy Scouts of America, Mary Boyd, C1 Bank and Elijah Heath, FishHawk – Riverview Rotary Club ‘threw their hats in the ring’ in July. Each candidate hosted multiple fun events to raise money for their charity(ies) of choice. The candidate with the most funds raised, Elijah Heath, was named the 2013 Honorary Mayor of Riverview. Molly Blanton raised approximately $1,000 for Boy Scouts of America; Mary Boyd raised approximately $1,250 for A Kids Place of Tampa Bay and $1,250 for YMCA – Camp Cristina; and Elijah Heath raised approximately $2,700 for the Rotary Club of FishHawk-Riverview Foundation. The remaining funds raised go to the GRCC; helping them keep membership dues low for our business partners and support community events.
New Honorary Mayor Elijah Heath said, “It was an honor to represent the FishHawk Riverview Rotary Club in this mayoral race. We are thrilled to win this competition. I would like to thank my rotary club and my other supporters for their efforts to make this a successful campaign. The real winners are the charities and scholarships of our club’s foundation, which will benefit from the funds that we raised. I look forward to serving the communities of greater Riverview over the next year. ”
