Each month, Center Place showcases the artwork of local artists and artisans. During the month of April, Center Place is hosting the Annual Adult Student Art Show. A reception will be held on Thursday, April 25 in the Mook Gallery from 5:30 to 7 p.m.. Here you will be able to meet both the talented students and the extraordinary teachers who instruct them.
The annual show is sponsored by the Brandon League of Fine Arts and is held as a celebration of the accomplishments of the student artists. The artwork will be on display at Center Place located at 619 Vonderburg Dr. in Brandon through the end of April.
Sue Allen, an accomplished watercolor artist who resides in FishHawk, is one of the teachers at Center Place. Allen said, “The Adult Art Show is an opportunity for our very talented students to show their work, and for all of us to learn from their ideas and experience. My fellow instructors and I are so proud of their work.”
The Adult Student Art Show is not judged. Students are simply given the opportunity to show their artwork in a gallery setting. The exhibit features 50 pieces of fabulous artwork. The Center Place art instructors whose artwork is exhibited include Sue Allen (watercolor), Meletha Everette (watercolor), Judy Johnson (oil and graphite) and Greg Manley (acrylic).
Dawn Galia, Executive Director for Center Place said, “Our Adult Student Art Show features so much talent this year! It is a beautiful show.” Galia added, “Center Place offers adult art workshops 12 months a year. They are all at different times and different days. We offer classes in pencil/graphite drawing, oil, watercolor, acrylic and more. Our classes are very affordable, and we take beginners through advanced students.”
