FishHawk resident Bill Zapf, president of WAITING GAME Publications, was recognized recently as a Certified Franchise Executive by the Institute of Certified Franchise Executives. Zapf completed a comprehensive course of study and was recognized during the annual convention in Las Vegas.
On November 7, 1992, the Canadian-born and raised hockey defenseman was checked from behind and flew head-first into the boards. Zapf survived and was left in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Despite losing his dreams on the ice, Zapf, married to wife Tanya and father of five, has moved forward to raise a family and build a company.
The WAITING GAME is a franchise operation with 23 units throughout eight states and Canada. Zapf and his business partners developed The WAITING GAME in 2009 as a means of providing affordable and effective targeted advertising solutions for small and mid-sized businesses. The WAITING GAME is a free, full-color, interactive, monthly publication distributed anywhere consumers experience wait times. It has crosswords, Sudoku, Word Find, interesting facts, and puzzles. The WAITING GAME is intended to stimulate the minds of consumers and their families while they wait and to provide valuable offers for them to take home.
“What many people do not realize is that sometimes even the most basic tasks can be difficult, but there is always a way, and everything is doable,” said Zapf.”
