On April 6th, 2013 Lorie was volunteering at East Bay High School (where she was attending high school) for a Relay for Life Event. During a break for lunch she was involved in a terrible auto accident that left her in critical condition in Tampa General Hospital with brain injuries. Lorie is an active young lady. She was Involved in many activities in school such as National Honors Society and a very active tennis player. She also was just accepted to UFS’S nursing program. She has always wanted to change lives so by being a nurse she knew she would accomplish this. Lorie was not able to attend her senior prom or her graduation. Lorie now is in TGH’s rehab program and doing as well as can be expected even though she still can’t see. As the days, weeks and months pass by the hospital bills continue to come and with your help we are hoping to be able to help with those bills.
We are hoping to serve 400-500 Spaghetti Dinners on July 22,from 4:30-7:00 at the Ruskin VFW for $6 each and 100% of the proceeds to go to Lorie. Dinners will be available for dine-in, drive thru or take out. The Spaghetti will be prepared by Beanie’s Family Sports Grill and we will have many volunteers on hand to ensure a successful fundraiser. We are also going to have a silent auction and a 50/50 drawing. However, we are looking for assistance from our community to help us with donations for this wonderful event. If you are in a position to supply any of the required items such as hamburger, spaghetti, sauce, Parmesan cheese, rolls, salad, Italian dressing, bottled water, tea, coffee, paper goods, plastic goods or even something for the silent auction, we would very much appreciate it. If you would prefer to make a cash donation or a gift card I would be more than happy to get what will be needed. In a time of such need it always heart filled to know as a community we can pull together and help a fellow neighbor. Thank you,
