Who doesn’t love to save money? These days especially, it’s more important than ever to stretch that dollar as far as possible and couponing is an excellent way to do it. But, there’s more to it than meets the eye and Valrico’s own Kati Kiefer has created True Couponing to share her knowledge on how to make the most of every coupon and sale.
In 2009, Kiefer created True Couponing after learning couponing out of necessity. “My husband had a large pay cut so I started to learn to coupon. I was an accountant so the numbers made sense to me,” she said. Kiefer started her True Couponing blog with an email list of 83 friends. Today there are more than 30,000 people on her email list.
The True Couponing website shares all of the weekly sales at local grocery stores and several retail stores including Target and Walmart. This allows smart shoppers to have all of the advertised savings in one convenient location. You can even find out the upcoming sales a few days ahead of time so that you can plan your shopping accordingly. Shoppers can also find printable coupons, expanding the savings even more.
Couponing workshops are offered for the public to help people make the most of their coupons. There are lots of tips and tricks shared in these workshops and the best part is that they are free. “Back when I was learning, I didn’t have $5 to go to a couponing workshop. Once I learned it all, I didn’t want to charge anybody,” Kiefer said. The workshops are run by her husband, James Kiefer, and her partner, Loretta Mion.
Tools to make couponing efficient are sold at the workshops as well as on the website. True Couponing fans can also now download a smartphone app for free from Apple or Google Play. This app helps shoppers calculate their bill before they get to the register.
True Couponing is featured on Sunday mornings on Fox 13 news with special savings segments to plan your shopping week. To learn more about how to save with coupons and find sales or to sign up for a workshop, go to www.truecouponing.com.
