The Golden Cork Contest is a way for Keel and Curley Winery to celebrate and thank customers who have helped it grow from a small family winery in 2003 to Florida’s biggest blueberry winery and one of the largest wineries in the Southeast. It is located at 5210 W. Thonotosassa Rd. in Plant City and its retail store hours are Sunday-Thursday from 11 a.m.-6 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m.-Midnight; and Saturday 10 a.m.-Midnight.
The contest is a fun play on the Willie Wonka Golden Ticket, but in this case, 10 Golden Corks will be sent out to stores in Keel and Curley wine bottles. Starting August 21, the 1 millionth bottle and nine other bottles with commemorative Golden Corks will be placed on store shelves. Customers who open a golden cork bottle will be invited to gather at the winery on October 10 to compete for the grand prize trip to San Francisco and Napa Valley, where they will enjoy a steam train tour to famous California wineries. The nine other winners will receive gift baskets filled with Keel and Curley products, a case of their favorite Keel and Curley wine, along with certificates for complimentary winery tours and tastings.
Keel and Curley wines are sold in 1,500 stores in Florida and Georgia including Publix, WalMart and Total Wine. (People can visit its Facebook page for possible clues as to the locations of golden corks).
If you uncork a Golden Cork, please e-mail Keel and Curley owner, found and president, Joe Keel at joe@keelandcurleywinery.com for details or visit www.keelandcurleywinery.com.
