The FishHawk Triathlon Club is now registering athletes for its second Annual Duathlon which will take place on Sunday, March 9. Participants will run 1.57 miles, then bike 14.16 miles, and finish with a 3.14 mile run. The duathlon is a great way for recreational athletes looking for new challenges to compete and have fun.
“We’ve found that the race is perfect for those who enjoy running 5K races but want more of a challenge,” said Race Director, Scott Weber said. “Athletes raced with all kinds of bikes last year – from triathlon bikes to mountain bikes to cruisers. I think people will really enjoy adding the cycling to the run,” Weber said.
The race starts at Just Rides Bicycles in the River Springs Shopping Plaza at the intersection of Bell Shoals, FishHawk Blvd. and Boyette Rd. A great race for spectators, the course will encircle FishHawk Ranch on the bike and loop Mosaic’s FishHawk headquarters multiple times for the run legs. The route will be supported by Hillsborough County Sheriffs.
All ages are welcome, but the race entries are limited to 200 participants. T-shirts, food, and music will be provided. Awards will be given to the top athletes in each age group, top overall male and female masters and the top overall male and female participants.
Registration fees are $45 per person. Online registration ends Saturday, March 8. Race day registration will be available Sunday, March 9 at 6 a.m. on site. To register, go to http://www.fishhawktriclub.com/annual-ftc-duathlon.html or search “FishHawk Duathlon” at Active.com.
All profits will go to Care2Tri, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization of caring individuals that help include people with disabilities in the sport of triathlon.
