Strawberry Crest High School’s Drama Department, under the direction of Hilary Gale, will perform Legally Blonde The Musical on Wednesday, April 9 through Friday, April 11. Tickets are $10 and are available at the door.
Producing Legally Blonde The Musical is a big deal for Strawberry Crest. Gale said, “We’re a brand new high school, so pulling off a Broadway musical was a huge feat.” Gale added, “The cast has been working hard to put on this production.”
Legally Blonde was first seen as a movie starring Reese Witherspoon. Legally Blonde The Musical hit Broadway in 2007. It tells the story of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls at Harvard Law School in order to win back her ex-boyfriend, Warner. The show is family-friendly and perfect for anyone who wants to come and have a good time.
Annika Ellenbogen, a senior and the Stage Manager said, “We chose Legally Blonde The Musical after months of begging from the seniors who wanted a large show with which to close their high school years.” Ellenbogen added, “The musical requires a multitude of unusual talents, so it really gave us a chance to discover hidden gems at our school.”
Ellenbogen stated, “We have always produced quality shows, but they have typically been kept to a smaller scale. Producing Legally Blonde The Musical is our version of a coming out party.” Ellenbogen added, “The show is bigger than any we have ever done before and we are expecting an audience larger than any before. We really want to continue growing and developing the theatre department here.”
