The John Crawford Gallery at the SouthShore Regional Library in Ruskin has issued a call to all adult artists for its March/April 2015 show. This is a juried show, and artists 18 years and older who specialize in painting and mixed media are invited to apply.
According to Laurie Burhop, art coordinator for the John Crawford Gallery/SouthShore Regional Library, “We are seeking any two dimensional work that can be hung (no free standing artwork will be accepted). This can include painting, drawing, collage, ceramic, mosaic, glass or metal.”
Applications are due Wednesday, November 19. Applications are available at the front desk at the SouthShore Regional Library or by emailing Burhop at burhopl@hillsboroughcounty.org. There will be more than one artist selected for the show. All potential exhibitors must submit four samples of the artwork they want to exhibit. This can be done through a CD formatted for MS Windows or photographs.
In addition to receiving a gallery style showing, artists who are selected are featured at an opening reception at the start of each exhibition. Typically anywhere between 30 and 50 members of the public attend the receptions.
Burhop said, “The Crawford Gallery is a juried space that provides the community with various types of artwork that could be seen in a private gallery. Our shows range from painting, drawing, fiber, mixed media and photography. I would like to thank the John and Elizabeth Crawford Foundation for providing the SouthShore Regional Library with this gallery space. I also want to thank the Friends of the SouthShore Regional Library for their support including providing the refreshments at our opening receptions.”
The current show, which is on exhibit through the end of October, is the Annual Art Instructors’ Show.
