Woman Arrested For Stealing Package From Apollo Beach Home
Members of the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office District IV Investigations Section were able to locate and arrest a Brandon woman for stealing a package containing a new iPhone 6 inside, valued at $650, from a homeowner’s doorstep.
Deputies said that Lavera Udean Huff of Brandon was wearing a bright orange T-shirt while distributing political flyers in the Harbor Isles community in South Apollo Beach.
Huff was seen hanging a flyer on the door of a residence and walking away. Minutes later, Huff returned to the front door, removed a small brown package and concealed it in her bag.
The HCSO’s District IV investigators were able to track down political group Grassroots Florida, who was distributing flyers in the neighborhood at the time of the theft. Cooperation from Grassroots Florida Directors led to the identification of Huff.
Detectives interviewed Huff, who reportedly admitted to stealing the package because she was “curious about what was inside.” After opening the package, she discovered the new iPhone, which she later sold for $250. Huff has been charged with grand theft and dealing in stolen property.
Detectives continued the investigation in an effort to recover the iPhone and return it to the victim.
Arrests Of Fire Arm And Drug Possession in Riverview
Last month a Crime-stoppers tip led to the arrest of a Riverview resident on drug-related charges, including possession of firearm and felony probation violation. The tip sent deputies to the residence of Eric Jordan indicating he was in possession of a firearm and selling marijuana from the house.
According to deputies, Jordan, who is currently on felony probation, has a curfew between the hours of 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., but a search of the residence revealed that Jordan was not home between the listed hours.
The deputies searched the residence looking for Jordan and saw marijuana packed for sale in plain view.
When Jordan entered the neighborhood, he attempted to elude law enforcement, at which time he was taken into custody.
A thorough search of the residence also yielded approximately 1 lb. of marijuana packaged for sale, 1.3 grams of methamphetamine, a loaded .45 Taurus semi-automatic handgun and numerous amounts of drug paraphernalia.
