Bloomingdale 11U All Stars Win Southeast Regional Championship
Coaches, parents and players of the Bloomingdale 11U All Star Baseball team, now playing under the Babe Ruth/Cal Ripken logo, have every reason to celebrate at the end of a season that went from a slow playoff start to bringing home the District, State and the Regional Championship trophies.
“Every player on the team played a big part in the success they had,” said Team Manager and Head Coach, Donny Scolaro. “Someone new always came up with a big play or big hit during our championship run.”
Scolaro emphasized that while the boys all came from different teams and had a rough start, they were able to come together when it mattered the most and to win the Southeast Regional Championship, which came on the back of a 12-2 record, including a 6-0 run and a team batting average of 379 and seven home runs during the regional tourney.

Tennis For Fun Gets Local Support
Decked out in new neon green T-shirts donated through a $1,000 donation from A League of Our Own Tennis (ALOT), the athletes of Tennis For Fun athletes are hard to miss.
A LOT is a tennis league for women across Hillsborough County.
According to Tennis for Fun Spokesperson Judy Moore, beyond encouraging competitive play, ALOT strives to support the entire tennis community and was excited to partner with Tennis For Fun to provide the athletes with shirts.
Tennis For Fun is an entirely volunteer organization with free weekly tennis clinics for athletes with special needs. The program works with athletes of all ages that are intellectually handicapped, especially those with Down Syndrome, but other special needs athletes are also welcome to join.
All services and equipment are donated by volunteers. Moore emphasized that, the program, now in it’s 15th year, gives athletes the opportunity to have fun playing tennis, learn basic tennis skills and to socialize with each other.
Tennis For Fun clinics are held weekly at Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center, which has generously supported the program through donated court time since it’s beginning.
