It’s that time of year again when the scent of strawberries fills the air in Plant City. The 2015 Florida Strawberry Festival runs Thursday, February 26 to Sunday, March 8. This festival includes performances on the Wish Farms Soundstage from local artists to worldwide stars such as Alabama, Bobby Vinton, Boyz II Men and The Newsboys. It also features the Belle City Midway, Neighborhood Village, The Royal Strawberry Queen and her Court, contests with livestock, art, cooking and photography, along with the Plant City Strawberry Parade. But what is it that kids love most about this festival? I went and asked several of my peers at Independence Academy what they loved.
Karrisa Sheldon (age 6) – I love going to see all the animals in the Kiddie Korral.
Karter Sheldon (age 8) – My favorite this is the fun games and cool prizes. Last year I won my very own Hermit Crab. Another favorite of mine is the best fries in the world!
Shelby Gerlt – (age 12) – I love their delectable signature strawberry shortcake, and incredible rides such as the zero gravity ride.
Alora Monn (age 12) – My favorite thing is that school is closed for East Hillsborough students on Monday, March 2 to enjoy the festival and parade. I especially love going through the fun house with my little brother, Aslan.
Bradlee Brightwell (age 12) – I love all the rides!
As you can see the Strawberry Festival has something for everyone. I, Faith Miller (age 13), would have to say my favorite part is spending fun times with my friends and family. We would all describe this event in three words: Fun, food, and love.
