BSAC Breaking New Ground Campaign
Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center (BSAC) has launched its inaugural annual campaign featuring the Breaking New Ground motto to recognize all the changes that are happening with the 52-year-old organization. The campaign runs throughout October, but donations will be accepted through the end of year. As BSAC continues to grow its impact on the community, the need for community support continues to increase. 2015 has been a year of growth and change as BSAC has collaborated with the Hillsborough County Commission on two major projects. First, BSAC received funding from the Commission to build an additional pool focused on expanding BSAC’s Blue Wave Learn to Swim Program. Construction of the pool is set to begin in early 2016. Secondly, BSAC is bringing SBA Powerhouse Baseball and the BSAC After-School All-Stars program to Padgett Park and Palm River Park. Local Dance Studio Raises Money for FSH Society
Fred Astaire Dance Studio hosted a dance-a-thon to raise research funds for the FSH Society. The FSH Society supports families and patients diagnosed with Facioscapulohumeral Muscular Dystrophy, works to advocate for those patients and raise research funds for treatment and therapy. Area Developer Agreement Signed for 24 Topper’s Creamery Units
An agreement has been signed with Tim B. Humes for the development of 24 Non-Traditional Topper’s Creamery units in Pinellas County. Greg Sausaman, the Topper’s president/chief operating officer, made the announcement relative to the territory west of Tampa. Presently there is one Topper’s location in Pinellas County. The 24-unit deal signed with Humes follows the “18 in 18” announcement by Sausaman in July, in which a company-wide goal of adding 18 new Topper’s Creamery units over the next 18 months was set. Time To Check In To The “Fright Night” Insane Asylum
On select evenings, The LOFT Event Lounge will be home to Brandon’s only “FRIGHT NIGHT” Insane Asylum at 711 W. Lumsden Rd. (next to O’Brien’s Irish Pub in the Oak Park Plaza) will take place Thursday-Sunday, October 22-25 and Thursday and Friday, October 29 and 30 from 7-10 p.m. Patients will be checked in by Mr. Benjamin and small groups will be escorted into the Insane Asylum by Nurse Kitty. Ary, the deranged clown, can be found wandering the Insane Asylum breezeway with a creepy head in her push popcorn cart.
Once checked in, patients will be able to roam the hallways at their own risk encountering and feeling all the eye opening fear a haunted Insane Asylum holds; the current residents and eternal souls, as well as the psychiatric staff of the “FRIGHT NIGHT” Insane Asylum, who does not like new patients.
