Staff Report

October 23-24, 2015 – You’ve probably heard the term, “10-4”. That is law enforcement code for “affirmative”. “10-24” is the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s

Office urgent code for “Send help.” On practically a weekly basis, the public hears about acts of violence against our community’s law enforcement officers, most of whom are working hard and risking their safety to serve and protect. One Spirit FM listener told us it gets more and more difficult to watch her husband walk out the door every day to go to work in law enforcement.

Spirit FM 90.5 has invited listeners to respond and send help in the form of letters, cards and drawings from the kids that will be passed along to our local law enforcement. “10-24 Project” cards need to be at the Spirit FM studios by 10/23. We will deliver the cards to as many police and sheriff’s offices as possible in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Polk counties but before the delivery, we will pray over the cards, the officers and their families. We’ll pray around 24 minutes after every hour on the 23rd and on Saturday, 10-24.

The 10-24 Project was created by Abby Brundage, Promotions Director and announcer for Spirit FM. “We’ve had a great response so far, but we need more!

The kids’ drawings are the best, but one of my favorite letters has come from a woman whose opening line read, ‘I want to thank you for arresting me back in

2008.’ It goes to show that lives can be turned around and our law enforcement’s hard work pays off.”

Information about the 10-24 Project can be found at www.spiritfm905.com/10-24.
