The Village Players present the mystery play, Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure with a Dinner Theatre Premiere on Friday, January 22 at 7 p.m. Shows will be held on Saturday, January 23, and the next two weekends (Friday, January 29 and 30 and Saturday, February 5 and 6). All shows will be at 8 p.m., and there will be matinees on Sunday, January 24 and 31 at 3 p.m.
Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure is adapted by Steven Dietz and is based on the original 1899 play by William Gillette and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure the world’s greatest detective has seemingly reached the end of his remarkable career. Then, a case presents itself that is too tempting to ignore. Dietz, who won the 2007 Edgar Award For Best Mystery Play, presents Holmes at the height of his powers, surrounded by all elements that fans of Holmes’ exploits have come to expect- danger, wit, humor, intrigue and surprise.
The Village Players’ presentation is directed by long time producer, Gail Pierce, who loves to bring history, as well as a good murder mystery, to life on stage.
“Once again, I changed up the ending without changing a word. This is a must see,” said Pierce. “The show offers the audience another adventure with Sherlock himself. Returning to their original parts, veteran Village Players’ actors will be seen in the play including Tom Bronson as Sherlock Holmes, Hal Granholm as his partner in crime, Dr. Watson and more.”
Tickets to Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure (except the Dinner Theatre Premier which is $25 and seating is limited) are $15 for general admission, $13 for students, seniors and military with ID, and $12 for groups of 10 or more.
Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure will be presented at the historic James McCabe Theatre located at 506 5th St. in Valrico. For more information, call 643-8292 or visit www.thevillageplayersvalrico.com.
