Meritage Homes was the first national builder to make every home built 100 percent ENERGY STAR certified. According to Campbell, “We consistently exceed the minimum ENERGY STAR requirements, build homes that achieve HERS scores as low as 61, and introduced the first cost-effective NET ZERO home by a national builder.”
With its unique building practices, Meritage homes, on average, are twice as energy-efficient as a typical U.S. home of the same size. With an array of money-saving features, from spray-foam insulation and energy-efficient windows that cut heating and cooling costs by as much as 50 percent, to ENERGY STAR appliances that use up to 50 percent less energy and water, its homes are EPA certified and provide energy-cost savings of up to 50 percent. “For 2016, we’ve just released some brand new floor plans that offer outdoor living spaces, huge covered lanais, and expansive multi-sliding glass doors which allow you to comfortably bring the outdoors in,” noted Campbell.
