Debbie Evans with Music Showcase said, “Scottish fiddler Hanneke Cassel and cellist and composer Mike Block are bringing their brilliant artistry to Brandon for an open workshop and a concert to be hosted by Music Showcase.”
Karyn Peterson, who is organizing the workshop and concert, said, “My daughter attended the Mike Block String Camp in Vero Beach last summer and she had the incredible opportunity of working with both Mike and Hanneke. What they taught her went far beyond just playing a few songs on the violin. She learned about how to take music to a whole different level.”
The concert featuring Mike Block and Hanneke Cassel includes modern pop songs, classical crossover covers, soulful compositions and original songs.
The workshop is open to all levels of string playing and all ages. All violin, cello, viola and bass players who are interested in exploring new techniques and opening themselves up to string playing from multiple musical genres are encouraged to attend. Both are experienced teachers as well as world-class performers.
Block has been hailed by Yo-Yo Ma as the “ideal musician of the 21st Century.” Block is a multi-style cellist, composer, and educator who lives in Boston. Cassel is the 1997 U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion. For more info and tickets, visit www.musicshowcaseonline.com.
