The GFWC Brandon Service League, a service organization that has been serving the greater Brandon area for over 50 years, is hosting A Spring Fashion Fling on Saturday, April 16 at 11:30 a.m. The event will take place at the Embassy Suites located at 10220 Palm River Rd. in Tampa. The cost to attend is $32.

The event will feature a fashionable afternoon of lunch and a great fashion show with fashions provided by TMarie’s Fashion & Gift Boutique.

This is an annual event that is an opportunity for the club to honor its 2015 Holiday Home Tour Charities and present checks to the local non-profits. In addition, the club presents three scholarships to deserving women.
The scholarships include The Claire and Reynolds Bryan Scholarship for the Arts, The Pat and Lee Elam Scholarship for the Renaissance Woman, and the Brandon Service League Women in Education Scholarship.

The money that the non-profits receive is funded by the Annual Holiday Home Tour which takes place each December. The local non-profits who will received checks this year included the Boys & Girls Club of Brandon, The Outreach Clinic, ECHO, LifeCare of Brandon, New Horizon’s Group Home, Brandon Women’s Resource Center and the Sylvia Thomas Center.

According to Bradless Swanson, second vice president and fundraising chair, “The non-profits were chosen based on recommendations from our club members.”

The money for the scholarships is derived from other fundraising efforts including A Spring Fashion Fling. The winners will be announced at the event.

Swanson said, “We are a diverse group of women dedicated to volunteer service. Our mission is to enhance the lives of others in the Brandon area using service projects, programs and events which are tailored to the needs of our community. We host several annual community events including the Holiday Home Tour, Very Special Arts and the High School Art Show. We are very excited to host A Spring Fashion Fling for the second year and hope it too becomes a Brandon area tradition.”

Space is limited, so reserve tickets now by contacting Swanson at 662-4371.
