Patients and parents of Carr Pediatric Dentistry never dread the dentist. Since 2010, the practice continues to “drive” children to better dental health through Dr. Carr and her staff’s commitment to comfortable, inviting dental treatments, but her practice is about to get a “boost” in speed. Dr. Natalie Carr is now Dr. Natalie Carr-Bustillo, and although the name has changed, her vision has not.

Dr. Carr-Bustillo shared, “Pediatric dentistry chose me.” At Northwestern University, she had the privilege to volunteer in a Saturday morning people’s clinic for low-income families. It was there she learned she had a gift working with children, especially those having a hard time, and found she could forge connections that allowed children to have positive experiences at the dentist that could translate into lifelong dental health practices. She knew she had to bring her talents back to her hometown.

Dr. Carr-Bustillo’s passion for pediatric dentistry is evident the moment one walks into her office. The roomy, inviting waiting area and spacious open-bay concept exam rooms attract kids with toys, televisions, interactive games, and tablets. She designed her office purposefully.

“There is something to be said about being present in an environment before you participate. It’s important to first build rapport with a kid before we see to their dental needs,” Dr. Carr-Bustillo said.

Her staff understands the importance of building a patient’s comfort level before going forward with a procedure, and everyone is left with a bright, white smile. Dr. Carr-Bustillo believes she gets just as much as her patients. “Kids are so fun and loving. The things I learn from them are amazing,” she said.

Dr. Carr-Bustillo’s office typically sees children from the time they cut their first teeth to 12 years of age, and they graduate once their permanent teeth appear. A huge portion of her mission is to educate parents and children in a way that will ensure continued dental health into adulthood. The practice offers both preventative care, like cleanings and exams, as well as restorative treatments, like fillings, crowns, and extractions. Open Monday through Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., they accept most major PPO insurance plans. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 672-3368 (DENT) or visit them at www.carrdental.com. Carr Pediatric Dentistry is located at 11936 Boyette Rd. in Riverview.
