Children ages 4 to 13 are encouraged to enter artwork in Center Place’s 4th Annual Children’s Community Art Show. The Show, Little Monsters Create, celebrates the creativity of the area’s aspiring young artists. Children may enter artwork which includes drawing, painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry, clay and wood. The show will be on display in the Mook Gallery at Center Place during the month of July.

Lisa Rodriguez, marketing director for Center Place, said, “Our Little Monsters Create July Art Show is open to all children in our community. Whether they take art lessons or just draw and paint on their own, they can submit their artwork for this show. Center Place saw the need to highlight children’s art in our community, so we created this July show just for them.”

The art show is open to all children in the greater Brandon area. All entries must be submitted between Monday, June 27 and Thursday, June 30 between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at Center Place located at 619 Vonderburg Dr. in Brandon. Children can enter up to three pieces. There is a $5 entrance fee per piece or $10 for three entries. There is a limit of three art pieces per artist.

The show will be judged by a local professional artist. Awards will be presented for first place, second place and third place in the three age categories; ages 4 to 6; ages 7 to 9; and ages 10 to 13. Rodriguez said, “We will have a reception for the young artist and their parents on Thursday, July 21 complete with refreshments and an awards ceremony which will recognize every child.” The reception begins at 6 p.m. and awards will be presented at 6:30 p.m.

2D artwork (including photography) must be matted, framed or wrapped and wired for hanging. No 2D artwork can be over 16” x 20”, and 3D pieces must not exceed 12″Hx10″W and may not weigh more than three pounds. All artwork must be accompanied by two typed 3×5 index cards, which must contain the artist’s name, age, title of the work, and artistic statement.
