Julie Pomeroy found the inspiration for her business in 2009 after noticing the need for consignment shops that would cater to women looking for more upscale fashion and accessories in the Brandon area. During this time, she knew about plenty of consignment shops existing in Brandon, but few offered high-end or renowned brands. Ever since, the business has worked with over 1,800 consignors and it continues to grow.
“Our store is really well-known throughout the Brandon and Tampa area. What we offer can’t be found at the mall,” said Pomeroy.
Julie’s Walk-In Closet opened with the goal of educating the local public of upscale resale shopping. The boutique offers a variety of clothing, shoes, jewelry, and handbags. The merchandise varies from being new to gently used, but all of it is in great condition as Julie’s Walk-In Closet is selective in its consignment process in order to offer its customers high-quality items. Handbag designer names featured at the shop include Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Michael Kors, Brahmin, Brighton, B Makowski, Fossil, and Tignanello to name a few. Julie’s Walk-In Closet also presents jewelry such as gemstones, sterling, Swarovski, Brighton, Tiffany, Premier Designs, Betsey Johnson, Michael Dawkins, and other popular store brands.
“Our jewelry comes from all over the world, brought by consignors who travel often,” Pomeroy said. “People are surprised by the fine jewelry they see when they walk in here, and that’s something that sets us apart from other consignment shops.”
The layout of the store is organized with high-end items are kept at the front, a main showroom featuring clothing, handbags and jewelry and separate rooms dedicated to home décor, shoes and dresses. Clothing sizes from extra-small to plus size throughout the shop. Employees at Julie’s Walk-In Closet also work to provide customers with education on fashion and how to accessorize. Customers are encouraged to ask staff for help in accessorizing or finding clothing to fit their body shape and style.
