The primaries are over. Now is the time for all voters to make decisions for the upcoming general election on Tuesday, November 8.

In an effort to help the local community make well thought out and insightful decisions, the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce will host a Political Forum on Thursday, September 29. The Political Forum will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn Tampa/Riverview/Brandon located at 4328 Garden Vista Dr. in Riverview (near the intersection of U.S. Hwy 301 S. and Interstate 75). The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m.

There is no charge for parking or admission. There will be light refreshments and a cash bar.

Residents can meet and hear from candidates running for offices that affect the Riverview community and surrounding area. Candidates include Mark Ober who is running for state attorney, and those running for clerk of court, school board and county commission.

According to Tanya Doran, executive director of the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce, “We have invited all candidates running for office that support or impact the Riverview area.
Many local organizations host ‘meet and greets’ events prior to the primary. The Political Forum is designed to get to know the remaining candidates because we will ask challenging questions.”

Each candidate will have approximately two minutes to introduce themselves. Moderators, Dr. Bryan Thatcher, the current president of the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce, and Dixie Brady, Esq., will devote considerable time to questioning the candidates. Each candidate will have the opportunity to speak.

Doran explained why the Greater Riverview Chamber of Commerce holds the Political Forum. “We want to help educate our community by giving them an opportunity to get to know the candidates,” explained Doran.

The Greater Riverview of Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit civic organization established in 1966. The chamber is celebrating 50 years of service to the community this year. Doran said, “Our purpose is to create a family environment that ensures the success of our community, our businesses and our members.”
