Veterans Day Celebration At Summerfield Elementary School

Attention Veterans and families. Join in a Veterans Day Celebration on Thursday, November 10 (the day before Veterans Day) in the courtyard at Summerfield Elementary School, 11990 Big Bend Rd. in Riverview. Enjoy a professional jazz band performing WWII songs, raise your voice in a patriotic sing-along, and applaud guest veterans from each branch of the military. Please bring a lawn chair, your singing voice, and an American flag.

The celebration begins at 9 a.m. Arrive early for parking. This event is free but you will need to show a photo ID to enter the school campus. For more information call the school office at 671-5115.

Two Veterans Day Assemblies To Be Held At Randall Middle School

Randall Middle School is honored to pay tribute to those who have served and are currently serving in our military. Randall will hold its annual Veteran’s Day Assemblies on November 9th beginning at 9:20 a.m. and ending at 11:30 a.m. with a reception for all guests in between the two assemblies.

Thank you in advance to Mrs. Kristy Verdi, Mrs. Ashley Caldwell, Ms. Dahl, Ms. Allen and Lt. Col. Bolduc and his Newsome High JROTC cadets for their hard work and contributions to these assemblies.

All guests must sign in with photo id through the front office when arriving for the ceremony.

Wimauma Elementary School retirees group recently held a group outing in September at Circles Waterfront Restaurant in Apollo Beach. The group is composed of retired faculty and staff, who worked at Wimauma Elementary at any time. New members joining the group were Gloria Boyett, Kevin Fuller, Karen Chastain, and Steve and Betty Gordon.

Everyone was happy to see each other and shared many memories and hugs, as they are a group of love. The group would like to thank their waiter and assistant Sean and Micah for outstanding service and strongly recommend this restaurant to all.

Organizers of the group are Emma Thomas, Sharon Prevatt, and Joyce Cecchi. Any retired former Wimauma Elementary employee interested in joining the group or getting more information may contact Emma at 677-5210. or 293-1780.

WMU-Cooley Law School Holds Open House For Prospective Students

The Tampa Bay campus of WMU-Cooley Law School will host an open house for prospective students and their guests on Thursday, November 10, from 2-6 p.m. The open house will include a discussion with staff and students, information about academic programs and scholarships, and campus tours.

“This open house will allow anyone interested in a career in law to have an opportunity to learn about the education process involved,” said Ron Sutton, associate dean at WMU-Cooley’s Tampa Bay campus. “This will be a very casual introduction into learning how a law degree can help individuals achieve personal and professional goals.”

Boy Scout Troop 665 in Brandon is securing donations to purchase and place wreaths at Bay Pines National Cemetery. Wreaths are $15. The troop will be placing them at Bay Pines gravesites on National Wreaths across America Day – Saturday December 17.

East Bay Youth Athletics To Hold End of Season Fall Festival

Fall is the perfect time to savor the crisp weather and enjoy a fun-filled afternoon before the holiday season starts. East Bay Youth Athletics is having an End of the Season Fall Festival on Saturday, November 19 from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. at Vance Vogel Park, 13012 Bullfrog Creek Rd. in Gibsonton. This event is open to the public and sponsored by East Bay Youth Athletics and Hillsborough County.

The main attractions will be a Zombie Treasure Hunt Run, Scare Room, Carnival Games, Bounce House, Dunk Tank, Face Painting, Prizes, Dickey’s BBQ, Carnival Food, and more. There will also be a Coach/Manager Softball game at 3:30 p.m.  Prices vary by activity.

Families who donate five cans of food will receive a free gift.  All food will be donated locally and all monies received will benefit the boys and girls who play at East Bay Youth Athletics.  Registration for players ages 4-16 for spring season will be available at http://eastbayyouthathletics.org/ and closes Sunday, January 8, 2017.

Winterfest Community Festival Hosted By Tampa Dynamo Futbol Club

The Tampa Dynamo Futbol Club is hosting a huge community festival event on Saturday, December 10 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.  The Festival will take place at the Summerfield soccer complex. located at 11942 Big Bend Rd. in Riverview.

The club is looking for more local businesses to join in the festivities and make this truly  a community centered event. There will be games, food soccer games, cross bar challenge, vendors, a silent auction, and raffles.
