As we head into the most joyous Christmas season, the United Methodist Church of Sun City Center (UMCSCC) is hosting a number of holiday events that are open to the entire community.

First up is an original play, The Gift of Christmas. The play is written by Carol Stewart and directed by Bill Turcotte. The play, which features 20 of UMCSCC’s drama team, will be performed on Friday, December 2 at 7 p.m. According to Jeff Jordan, Director of Worship Arts, “This show is set in the fictitious ‘Sun City Center Super Saver & Discount Drug Depot’ on Christmas Eve. This one is sure to make you laugh and cry and feel the true spirit of Christmas.” The event is free.

On Sunday, December 11 at 8:30 and 11 a.m., the UMCSCC Chancel Choir will present the Christmas Cantana- Let There Be Christmas. The choir will be accompanied by brass, wood winds, bells, piano and a narrator.

On Monday, December 12 at 7 p.m. the SouthShore Community Band will present its holiday concert under the direction of Ken Easton. A donation of $5 is requested.

Come and enjoy the 2nd Annual Sights and Sounds of Christmas on Wednesday, December 14 at 5 and 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

On Friday, December 16 come see and hear Christmas With The Celts featuring renowned hammered dulcimer artist, Marcille Wallis. He will be joined by fiddler, Matt Miller, Don Pigeon and Irish dancer, Kate Valley. A donation of $10 requested.

Finally, there will be three Christmas Eve Candlelight Services. Traditional services will be held at 4 and 8 p.m. in the Sanctuary. A contemporary service will be held at 6 p.m. in the Life Enrichment Center.
