The April exhibit at Center Place of Brandon features the artwork of adult students who take classes from the talented instructors at Center Place. The instructors include Judy Johnson, Kathy Durdin, Kathleen Durham, Greg Manley, Ron Grote and Meletha Everett. All of the instructors are professional artists.

The media that the instructors teach are varied but include watercolor, oil, mixed media, pencil, acrylic, watercolor on Yupo and pen and ink. The artwork on display is original and unique.

Dawn Galia, Executive Director of Center Place said, “This show is organized so that the adult students who take art classes here at Center Place have an opportunity to experience what it is like to be a part of a professional art show.” Galia added, “The students learn about the application process, and how to properly size and mat a painting.”

If you have ever dreamed of painting or drawing like a professional, consider taking classes at Center Place. The instructors all have years of experience and will show you techniques and how to use many different kinds of media.

Adult art classes are available from September through May and on a limited basis during the summer. Classes are open to everyone and no prior experience is necessary. The cost to take art classes at Center Place is very reasonable. Classes meet one day per week and are generally priced at $10 per classes. Center Place members receive a discounted price.

Galia stated, “Many of the students have been taking classes here at Center Place for over 10 years. It is amazing to see how they have progressed over the years.”

Center Place was established in 1976 and has been serving the greater Brandon community ever since. Center Place is located at 619 Vonderburg Dr. in Brandon.
