Not all who take a seat in that light-colored leather dental chair seem thrilled because of a fear they could be facing. At Oakfield Dental in Brandon it strives to do everything possible to make dental visits pleasant and positive experiences for their patients.

In 2016, Oakfield Dental became established by Dr. Amir Boules, D.M.D. His wife Dr. Melanie Leung, D.M.D. joined the team too with knowledge and a heart for working with kids such as those with Autism and other special needs. To add, the staff here did get handpicked to provide individuals with the best quality care to make the dentist visit most comfortable and enjoyable.

Leung earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pennsylvania. While attending dental school, Leung chose to do a rotation at a special needs clinic where she saw various types of patients every week.

In addition, Leung mentions how Oakfield Dental utilizes numerous methods to make it a comfortable environment to all patients. For instance, an apron that gets placed during an x-ray remains on an autistic patient throughout the entire appointment because it portrays as a safety blanket on them. Another method would be providing them with free earbuds or using colorful nonthreatening tools and more.
“I enjoy working with kids and it all started before dental school,” Leung said.

Furthermore, what makes Oakfield Dental unique would be its home-like appearance of this specific office, which includes a coffee and tea bar, phone charging station in each operatory, cozy blankets and much more. It also provides services such as one-hour whitening, digital x-rays to minimize radiation and cleanings with an emphasis on communicating oral hygiene tips just to name a few.

“Overall, most people come in with some type of dental fear and I want the community to know that we care,” Leung said.
