The Firehouse Cultural Center’s Firehouse Pub will be active with all kinds of entertainment this spring. Come out and see great bands such as the Gypsy Star Band which will perform in the Firehouse Pub on Saturday, April 21.

Kick off spring at the Firehouse Cultural Center and the Firehouse Pub with lots of fun events. There are arts events at the center and live entertainment in the Firehouse Pub throughout April and May. There is something for everyone regardless of your age.

Georgia Vahue, Executive Director of the Firehouse Cultural Center said, “We encourage everyone to come to our shows, take our workshops, and enjoy the many programs for both kids and adults that we offer.”

First up, come to the Big Draw on Saturday, April 14 from 1 to 4 p.m. This is an annual event held internationally that celebrates drawing. It is especially important for the Ruskin area because the area’s namesake, John Ruskin, was a gifted painter who lived during the Victorian era. The Big Draw is a free community event.

Then, come see a great band, the Gypsy Star Band, on Saturday, April 21. The Gypsy Star Band fuses original indie folk rock with rhythms from around the world to create a unique sound.
Then, the Valerie Gillespie Jazz Ensemble returns to the Firehouse Pub on Saturday, May 12. The group performs a mix of instrumental and vocal jazz music.

Next, come out and enjoy some good old-fashioned comedy at Clean Comedy on Friday, May 18. Comedians will be announced soon.

Come back on Saturday, May 19 and see The Bop Legacy perform tributes to the great Jazz legends of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s with a mixture of Bebop, Latin Jazz and smooth Jazz.

Advance tickets for the music performances are $18 for members and $23 for non-members. Day of tickets for members are $23 for members and $28 for non-members. For the Clean Comedy Show, advance tickets are $15 for members and $18 for non-members. Day of tickets are $20 for members and $25 for non-members.

The Firehouse Cultural Center is a non-profit visual and performing cultural center. They are conveniently located in the south region of Hillsborough County. They provide quality programming in arts and education for all ages.
