If you’re looking for a fresh twist on the classic dishes of North and South Vietnam, do not look any further than Pho Viet, a restaurant devoted to introducing Vietnamese cuisine to the Brandon area.
The restaurant is owned by Tony Phan, who came to the United States around 15 years ago from Viet Nam. He opened the restaurant around five years ago, and it has recently undergone some renovations to make for an even better dining experience.
Since the opening of Pho Viet, as well as throughout his entire career, Phan has never stopped striving towards being the best option when it comes to satisfying the craving for an authentic Vietnamese meal. “I focus on bringing higher quality food to my customers,” Pham said of his goal.
Phan said that it is hard to choose his own favorite item from the menu, but he does recommend that new customers try the very dish the establishment his named after; the Pho Soup. “I use beef because it has a good flavor,” Phan gave a short summary of what makes his Pho the best, “It’s also healthier than most options.”
Phan noted that the food is very healthy and has minimal grease. Vietnam has a rich history in oriental medicine and a lot of the herbs used in cooking are also used for healing. “Not only is the food flavorful, but it is also a healthy alternative and just may help symptoms of the common cold or stomach issues,” added Phan.
Whether looking for a taste of home or something new to try, Phan said that the soup is a popular choice. Served in large portions, the restaurant’s signature entree features a large steaming bowl of fresh rice noodles in slow-cooked beef stock made with a special blend of herbs and spices.
“Pho Viet appeals to people from the region where the recipes originate,” Phan said.
Natives of both Vietnam and Korea often come to eat at Pho Viet for its distinct similarities to cuisine from home.
