The Firehouse Cultural Center in Ruskin holds Pub Nights throughout each month. The Pub offers live music from nearly all musical genre to comedy shows and more. While being entertained, you can sip on a beverage and nibble a nosh.
During the month of May, the Firehouse Cultural Center Pub has both music and comedy. All shows are from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Seating is communal.
On Saturday, May 12 come see the Valerie Gillespie Jazz Ensemble. This ensemble is committed to preserving live Jazz performances. Lush Life is Valerie Gillespie’s most recent Jazz CD. It features music of Chick Corea and Billy Strayhorn.
Next, on Friday, May 18, the Firehouse Cultural Center Pub will be lit up with laughter as they present Comedy Night. You can enjoy an evening of laughs. According to Beth Stein, Rental and Programming Coordinator for the Firehouse Cultural Center, “Comedy Night will feature Mike Rivera, Funniest Teacher, and John Charles. They will have the house roaring.”
You can come back on Saturday, May 19 and listen to Bop Legacy as they perform tributes to the great Jazz legends of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. They perform a mixture of Bepop, Latin Jazz, hard Jazz and smooth Jazz. Bop Legacy features the amazing talents of Tony Castellano on piano, Joe Renda on the drums, Billy Pillucere on bass, James Suggs on trumpet and Austin Vickrey on saxophone.
Finally, the Charlie Morris Band will perform on Saturday, May 26. The Charlie Morris Band delivers energetic and laid back original tunes that are a blend of Blues, Country and Florida Swamp music.
Advanced tickets for the music performances are $18 for members and $23 for non-members. Day of tickets are $23 for members and $28 for non-members. Advanced tickets for the comedy shows are $15 for members and $18 for non-members. Day of tickets to the comedy show are $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
