Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) community resource deputies Breanna Rodriguez and Clifford Fletcher want to help you get to know your local police officers. Residents are invited to attend the second Coffee with a Cop event on Friday, August 17 at 8 a.m. at Brandon’s Moreno Bakery.
According to Rodriguez, deputies from throughout Hillsborough County’s District V, which includes areas of Valrico, Brandon and Riverview, and Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister are planning to attend the event.
“Our goal is to bring the community together and give residents the opportunity to have relaxed and open conversations with our officers,” said Rodriguez. “We feel that the more face time we can have with residents, especially back and forth conversations, the better bond we will have with the community.”
A Valrico resident, Rodriguez has been one of the two community resource deputies in the Bloomingdale office for a year this month.
“One of our goals for the office this year is to get out more in the community,” said Rodriguez.
The HCSO hosted a successful Coffee with a Cop in early May in Riverview that was well attended by community members and business owners.
“We met some really great people,” said Fletcher, a Riverview resident.
The event will be an open forum, so residents are encouraged to attend any time during between 8 and 9:30 a.m. to mingle with the officers and other interested in citizens while drinking coffee.
Residents who are not able to attend the event, but who are interested in getting to know their local officers, are invited to visit Fletcher and Rodriguez at the Bloomingdale Community Substation, located at 3622 Erindale Dr. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday-Friday. The station also responds to property crime and handles community complaints and fraud reports for the Bloomingdale area. For more information, call the station at 635-8040.
Moreno Bakery is located at 737 W. Brandon Blvd. and can be reached at 689-0320.
