Jack Gutman has practiced law for over 30 years. He is a long time resident of Hillsborough County, and he is running for County Court Judge in Group 8.
“The three pillars of my campaign are honesty and integrity; experience; and community involvement,” said Gutman. He has extensive experience in both civil and criminal law and has achieved an AV Preeminent Rating from the Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings.
“Being a judge is the highest honor a lawyer can achieve. To be entrusted with that authority is an awesome responsibility,” said Gutman. “I want to be a County Court Judge because it is the people’s court. This may be the first time a citizen encounters a judge. The judge needs to have the right temperament coupled with extensive expertise in order to be effective on the bench,” said Gutman.
Gutman has served as both a prosecutor and defense attorney. In addition, he is certified by the Florida Supreme Court as a State Mediator. “In my work as a mediator, I have learned to facilitate resolution of issues as opposed to engaging in a way that causes excessive litigation.
In addition to practicing law, Gutman has served on the Board of Directors for the MacDonald Training Center, a non-profit that serves people with disabilities. He currently serves as the Chair of their new Excel Program which is a program that works with young adults who are on the Autism spectrum. The program helps to provide them with life and work skills.
Gutman has been endorsed by the West Central Police Benevolent Association, the Tampa Police Department Benevolent Association, the City of Tampa Fire Fighters Union, five retired Circuit Court Judges, nine past presidents of the Hillsborough Bar and two past Florida Bar presidents.
Gutman has been married to Carlene for 25 years and has two children, Samantha and Matthew.
“I believe that I have the experience, temperament and high level of ethics necessary to be a County Court Judge. I would ask that you vote for me for County Court Judge on Tuesday, August 28,” said Gutman.
