For more than four years, the staff at Just Cuts for Guys have been sprucing up the hair of FishHawk’s male residents. This month, owners Dawn and Bryan Vansant are welcoming their son Edward to the team as the business’ seventh stylist.
Just Cuts for Guys, which opened its doors on FishHawk Blvd. in March 2014, offers haircuts for men and boys. It is a family business and Dawn is not only the owner but also has been a hair stylist for 13 years.
“With 13 years of experience Dawn not only understands the industry, she is also actively involved in all aspects of the business ensuring that the consistency and quality control are kept to her standards,” said Bryan, who has lived with his family in the FishHawk area for more than 10 years.
The Vasants are excited to welcome their son Edward to the team following his graduation from barber school last month, with the idea of him possibly taking over the business in the future.
“Edward has worked as a receptionist at our store since we opened,” said Bryan. “He has watched and participated as we have built this business. This led him to barber school. He will be a valuable addition to our team. He has proven to be a quick study and takes his work seriously.”
The business’ other team members have already built up a following of clients in the FishHawk area. Many residents have been getting their hair cut by Myriam Olivieri and Wendy Pfisterer since the store opened and popular stylists Judy Barrett and Angela Clark joined the team more recently.
“We have a great team that brings decades of experience,” said Bryan. “This allows us to provide a quality product to our clientele on a consistent basis.”
For Bryan, one of the best aspects of owning a business in a community like FishHawk is the ability to really get to know customers and watch them grow up, one hair cut at a time. Dawn tells of speaking to younger customers about their future plans and remembering giving them their first haircuts.
“Owning and running a business is very demanding,” he said. “When the community expresses their appreciation by supporting your business when there are so many options out there, it makes all of the hard work worth it.”
