Matty Donlan is River Oaks Treatment Center’s Director of Community Affairs.

The first step towards getting somewhere is to decide that you are not going to stay where you are presently. River Oaks Treatment Center in Riverview is the first step for someone suffering from addiction.

“River Oaks Treatment Center is a quiet, meditative retreat in Riverview that offers treatment for adults struggling with substance abuse and behavioral health issues,” said River Oaks Treatment Center’s Director of Community Affairs Matty Donlan. “River Oaks provides research-based clinical and support services for adults struggling with drug addiction and co-occurring mental health disorders. Our team is comprised of highly qualified, passionate individuals who strive every day to provide the best care possible.”

The center opened the doors of its 26-acre campus in September 2015. It is licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families and has received both CARF and The Joint Commission accreditations for excellence in care. “At River Oaks, our priority is ensuring the safety of each client,” Donlan said. “Medical Detox is our highest level of care. Following his or her initial medical and nursing evaluation at arrival, if our clinical team determines that the client has a clinical need for Medication-Assisted Detox, we provide a safe, 24/7 medically managed detox environment with licensed medical staff availability.”

As clients step down after detox, they attend a full schedule of individualized therapy sessions and groups in RTC, Day/Night PHP, and Intensive Outpatient programming, their treatment is supplemented with homework and learning opportunities in our interactive curriculum, Embracing Change, Recovery for Life.

The vision of American Addiction Centers and River Oaks is to revolutionize the treatment of drug and alcohol addiction. “Our mission is to transform lives and give hope to the hundreds of people battling drug and/or alcohol addiction,” Donlan said. “Over the last two and a half years, our primary focus at River Oaks has been to achieve goals regarding treatment and facility safety.”

The center hopes to make a bigger footprint in the Greater Tampa community, and eventually rolling out new services like outpatient counseling, weekly groups, recovery-based activities for Alumni, in addition to organizing and facilitating a family support group for members of the community who have loved ones struggling with addiction and mental health issues.
